Solkane® pharma-aerosols are an ozone-friendly solution for metered-dose inhalers (MDI), where they are used in pharmaceutical grade propellants. The Solkane HCFC-22, a fluorinated intermediate, is used as a starting raw material in plastic intravenous drip bags.

Precipitated Barium Sulfate

Barium sulfate is used in imaging and in the production of radiation barrier components.

Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC)

Socal® ultrafine precipitated calcium carbonates are used as excipients, as a source of calcium, to neutralize stomach acid, and for rheology control of liquid formulations.

PVC

Emulsion grade PVC is used in the production of film for blister packing, blood pouches and tubings.

Soda Ash IPH

This pharmaceutical grade of soda ash is used as an excipient in the manufacture of prescription and over-the-counter medications. It meets the specifications of the National Formulary.

Sodium Bicarbonate

BICAR™ Sodium Bicarbonate is a solid compound available in various granulations suitable for both powder and tablet applications. USP grades of sodium bicarbonate are used in pharmaceuticals as reactive compounds during manufacturing, and as excipients in final compounds. The effervescence of sodium bicarbonate helps provide an efficient delivery system. Solvay Chemicals also offers a Pharmaceutical Grade of sodium bicarbonate, produced in Europe under GMP conditions, that is suitable as an Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) in antacid products.

Sodium Sulfite and Sodium Metabisulfite

Sodium sulfite and sodium metabisulfite are used as preservatives in the manufacture of certain pharmaceutical drugs. Both are also used as building blocks in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals in proprietary processes.
