Inorganic Fluorides

Inorganic fluoride products are essential in such applications as a brazing flux in the manufacture of aluminum heat exchangers, fluoridation of drinking water, toothpastes, electroplating, matte and blank etching of glass and pyrotechnics. NOCOLOK® Flux is used in brazing aluminum heat exchangers. Once the surfaces have been freed from residue with this ideal fluxing agent, condensers and evaporaters can be joined.

Organic Fluorides

Solvay Chemicals, through its subsidiary Solvay Fluorides, LLC, markets — under the name Solkane® — refrigerants, solvents and blowing agents for plastic foams. Conventional fully chlorinated hydrofluorocarbons are currently being replaced by eco-friendly alternatives — in particular the highly successful refrigerant Solkane® 134a and 227 pharma, a propellant for medical applications.

Specialty Fluorides

Products offered in this group by Solvay Fluorides are Iodine Pentafluoride, IXOL® (halogenated polyols) and Sulfur Hexafluoride. These products are used as an insulator for electrical transmission equipment, as fluorination agents, and as reactive fire retardant for polyurethane foams. IXOL® flame-retardants produce both rigid and one-component polyurethane foams which can be stored in cans, plates, or panels.

In addition, our CF3 line has 44 products available including trifluoroacetic acid and trifluoroactyl chloride.
